It's Easier To Sell When You Market Well

Marketing By Referral


Do you hate sales and marketing? Probably. It’s push, not pull. It’s expensive, time-consuming, wasteful, ineffective, demotivating – and the list goes on and on. So why keep doing it? Or even worse, not doing it? Why not do something that’s effective, enjoyable, and affordable? Probably because you don’t know how to. You’re not alone. Here’s what I’ve learned, and I hope you find it useful and enjoyable.

Visibility

As Ivan Misner and Robert Davis explain in Business by Referral, visibility builds credibility, and credibility leads to profitability. The greater your visibility, the more widely known you will be, the more opportunities you will be exposed to, and the greater will be your chance of getting business referrals.

  Before others can see you, you have to see you.

What is your unique talent? It’s not as easy as you might expect to give a clear answer. One of my own biggest challenges was that potential clients didn’t seem to notice me or understand what my business was about. Was that their fault or my responsibility?Right – it was up to me to understand my own talent and describe it so that others could respond easily. When you begin working with me, I will help you to understand more about your unique talent – the essential gift that only you can offer to your customers. Remember, when you are clear about yourself, others will see you.

Marketing

Marketing is not about selling or telling. Marketing is mostly research. It is about asking questions to gain understanding of the customer's buying process. First, find out what is happening in the market in general, and then decide what your unique chosen market is specifically.

  Your market is a place where people can hang out and talk with each other about their acknowledged need for your unique services.

After you have learned from your research you can begin to build your own market.

Referral Network

Many people have information and support networks. Do you have a referral network?

  Your must actively develop and maintain your own referral network.

Only you can build a referral network based on your unique talent, and create a market that you own. Do you have a program to recruit, instruct, motivate and reward the members of your referral network?
